Hands on with the LGG6 at the Singapore launch event
As I have mentioned before in my last post, 2017 is the year that smartphones become bezel-less and it will create a new screen ratio too (tough life on application designer).
Let me move on to the main topic of the day - the latest flagship phone from LG.
LG G6
One changes that i have noticed right off the bat was that they have taken away the modular feature that LG-G5 had. This means that you will not be able to remove/swap your battery anymore.
However, the good news is that G6 become IP68, water and dust resistance. Awesome right?
So what is new?
1. Achieved IP68 rating means that now the phone is water and dust resistance.
2. 5.7 QHD+ Full Vision display, an 18:9 screen aspect ratio. (usually is 16:9 ratio)
3. Wide camera angle has been bumped up to 13MP, same as the normal camera.
4. Comes with Google Assistant which people love it on their Google Pixels.
5. Hi-Fi Quad DAC (Singapore) - Wireless charging (US)...
6. Snapdragon 821 with 4GB ram and 64 Internal Storage which is expandable up to 2TB
First Impression?
The Display and the Design
The size of the phone is comparable with its predecessor LG-G5, however, the display screen size is much bigger. (5.7Inch - G6, and 5.2Inch - G5). A larger and bezel-less screen lets you enjoy watching video on this phone. Furthermore, it is the first smartphone to feature Dolby Vision technology, the LG G6 also support HDR 10 which are the standard for the picture quality technology that displays a wider range of colour and luminosity.
It will give you the cinematic-like viewing experience for streaming video from Netflix, Amazon and more content providers that create HDR video Content.
The phone is now covered with Gorilla Glass 5 on the back and Gorilla Glass 3 on the front… (Which is kind of a weird? Why make the back stronger when you usually have a case on the phone which protect the phone already)
The best part of this design? I am able to hold it with one hand and send messages now! Like LEGIT!
Naturally, I am attracted to the Pure black phone, it looks more stealthier as compare to the rest of the Colours. (Sliver and White)

The Camera
The images that I took on this phone is sibei de chio (very pretty in hokkien).
The wide angle photo taken on the G6(top) is not as wide as the photo taken on G5(bottom). However, LG presenter did say that they have “lessen” the fish eye effect. This might be the reason why it is not that wide anymore.
The photo quality taken on the G6 is much better than on the G5 as13MP really improves the image resolution by a lot.
**If you look closely on the left side of the screen, it will also show u the existing photos that you took before. It is because of the 18:9 ratio, they can optimize the space for that feature!

LG6 has a square camera mode which offers new exciting ways to create photos. Not forgetting the pro mode function which photographer will love it more.

The IP68 Rating
IP68 should already be the standard if the phone is having a non-removable back. Thankfully, LG has made it "waterproof". Definitely, you can't dunk it into the water for 8 hrs, but hey it is certainly very useful as I know people tend to drop their phone into the toilet bowl :s
Conclusion
LG has been saying that LGG6 is designed with consumers in mind.
According to them, people voted for a larger screen, a better camera and also something that is more durable.
Honestly? I think they nailed it.
It is a great looking phone and equips with the awesome dual lens camera. Aware that people would prefer an IP68 rather than a modular kind of phone.
The only thing that I am disappointed in was the wireless charging... I am living in Singapore, which means I am getting the Hi-Fi Quad DAC audio version instead of the wireless charging version.
You guys should let us choose which model we want...
