Vivo releases the new S1 smartphone which is chio and powerful


Vivo recently launched their S1 smartphone across Singapore on August 17.  
With a price tag of $399, what does it really comes within this affordable package?

1. Design / Display


It comes with 6.38-inch Super AMOLED Display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio which has a 90% screen to body ratio. The notch is a teardrop design hence it doesn't really affect your vision when you are interacting with the phone. 

 The self-illuminating Super AMOLED display means users can also keep track of time and stay on top of important alerts with the Always On Display. Not only does it consume minimal power, but users can also add character to the phones by personalizing the themes based on individual style and preferences.

 With such a display, it will provide a fantastic visual effect when you are watching a movie or playing game on it. 

 The device is available in Cosmic Purple and Aqua Blue which sports a gradient finish that will appeal to more fashion-conscious consumers.

2. Cameras


One of the main highlights of the phone is the AI triple rear cameras. 

  1. 16-megapixel Sony IMX499 Camera sensor that supports photography with enhanced accuracy and precision;

LG V40+ came equipped with 5 cameras in total. ( 2 in front and 3 behind ). 

Front Display consist equip with one 8MP Standard Lens and with an additional 5MP Wide Lens so that you can capture more when you are taking your selfie with your friends. 
At the rear, it still has the awesome 16MP Wide Angle Lens and 12MP Standard Lens. However, this time they added the 12MP Telephoto lens so that portrait lover would still be able to take awesome portrait shot anytime you want.

Razer Phone 2 - A Entertainment and Gaming Beast


I am sure that Razer doesn't need any introduction at all since they are already very well-known. 
Last year, Razer released their Gaming phone - Razer Phone which has all the high-end specs like 120GHz refresh rate LCD screen, awesome front facing sound and very lightweight OS but hit or miss camera feature or lack of IP 68 water resistance rating.

This year, Razer announced their latest phone - Razer Phone 2.
Let us see what changes have they made below. 

1. Gaming/Performances.


It offers up to 30 percent performance boost than its predecessor, thanks to the latest flagship component and thermal cooling solutions. Using Snapdragon 845 and Qualcomm Adreno 630, it can handle all your tasks without any issue at all. With its Razer vapor chamber cooling system that provides for industry-leading thermal cooling. 

You can play your PUBG/Fornite without worrying about it getting very hot.

2. Camera



The Razer Phone 2 improves on its imaging capabilities with a new rear dual camera setup that offers 12MP wide-angle lens with Optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. Be it fast action or low-light, the Sony IMX sensors are tuned to produce low-noise images with a wide gamut of colors.

The front has a 8 MP camera supports video streaming at Full HD resolution which definitely will attract those live-streaming professional. 

Lastly, with the new user interface which allows for easy one-handed operation for portraits and scenic panoramas. ( This is important because of the user giving feedback that the camera app was quite bad. )

3. Battery and Amazing 120GHz with a brighter screen


Unlike other competing phones, the Razer Phone 2’s 5.7-inch UltraMotion™ IGZO display remains the only display in the industry that offers both 120 Hz screen refresh and 120 Hz touch sampling. What you see is what you touch. At the same time, the screen is 50% brighter than the previous razer phone.

Additionally, with a huge battery (4000mAh) for all-day gaming and entertainment needs, and Razer continues to improve its battery efficiency. Where its predecessor was benchmarked for 10 hours of battery life at a screen refresh rate setting of 90 Hz, the Razer Phone 2 is optimized to also last 10 hours at a higher 120 Hz1.

The phone is also certified by Netflix for HDR video content and Dolby Surround 5.1 audio Content.
How cool is that? You can fully immerse into the show with this phone. 

4. Dual Speaker, IP67 Rating and Wireless Charging



The reason why Razor 1 wasn't water resistance rating was due to the large front facing speaker. However, thanks to their amazing team, they are able to achieve the IP67 rating with front-facing speaker still! 

The dual speaker consists of Dual Amplifier / Dolby Atmos technology and you are able to use USB-C adapter in the box that is equipped with 24-bit DAC for your handphone jack.

Furthermore, shifting from the metal back to a glass back enable the phone to be wireless charging enabled. AWESOME!

5. MY FAVORITE - Razer Chroma.



The Razer Phone 2 is now powered by Razer Chroma, the world’s most popular RGB lighting system for gamers.

The rear of the phone features the Razer triple-headed snake logo that glows in 16.8 million colors to provide app notifications (such as Facebook comments or WhatsApp messages). Razer Chroma also allows you to customize lighting effects such as Static, Spectrum Cycling and Breathing.

6. Conclusion

The pricing would be USD $799, as for the carrier, we have no news yet but I would be guessing it will be on Singtel once again. 

I have briefly used Razer phone 1 before and I must say, the 120GHz screen is really really amazing. Go to any Singtel shop and try it kay.

LG is unveiling the brand-new LG V30S+ThinQ in New Platinum Gray, priced at S$1,298 on May 5th - which comes equipped with artificial intelligence (AI).

I will be touching on the differences between V30+ and V30+ ThinQ. 

1) More Memory and Storage.

2) Vision AI Streamlines the photography and search experience

AI CAM
analyzes the subject in the frame and recommends the optimal shooting mode among eight categories:

portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. The angle of view, color, reflections, backlighting, and saturation levels 

Based on the categories, it will determine/recommend the best setting for the photo itself.
For example, pointing the camera at a plate of pasta will activate the food mode, resulting in warmer colors and heightened sharpening.

Bright Mode
Low light photography gets a huge boost. Instead of measuring only ambient light like most If smartphone cameras, this AI feature uses algorithms to brighten images by a factor of two for better looking photos without the noise.

QLens
It takes advantage of the image recognition capabilities to scan QR codes. Capture an item of interest with QLens to get information of the product as well as recommendations of similar items. Perform an image search with QLens to see matching or similar images of food, fashion, and celebrities or detailed information of landmarks such as buildings and statues. 

3) LG-Exclusive Voice Commands for Greater Efficiency 
Another new feature is Voice AI, which allows users to run apps and change settings through voice commands alone. Working alongside Google Assistant, the LG-exclusive Voice AI commands eliminate the need to search through menu options; users can quickly activate specific functions, such as taking wide-angle photos or pop art Cine video. 

Conclusion- 

Honestly, I would recommend you guys to get this phone only if you do not own LG v30+ now or you are using a 1 - 2 years old smartphone.

Nokia 8 - Is it strong enough to make a comeback?

Nokia 
is a brand that was super popular last time. I remember my very first Nokia phone (3210).

However, ever since iOS and Android OS went on dominating the smartphone market, Nokia's Windows OS failed to grab a portion of the smartphone market pie and went quiet for awhile... until now. 


Even though their latest phone isn't bezel-less, it does looks very stunning in my opinion. Especially the copper red color, so eye catching. gosh!!!!. 
Nokia 8 is the top flagship for this series, as they have released Nokia 3, 5 and 6 this year too. The rest of the phones have the similar design, except Nokia 8 comes with the top-notch specification and also dual camera setup. 


Let us dive into the points of this phone should be on the list of your consideration if you are planning to re-contract or simply looking for a new smartphone. 
  1. If you hate to be one of the mainstream people that use Samsung or Apple devices, Nokia 8 is a great choice. I believe the design of the smartphone is very important, especially the color of your phone. Judging by how beautiful the copper red variant looks, it will surely grab someone attentions. Who knows you might get some girl number with it.
  2. In terms of specification, this phone is a beast too! It comes with Snapdragon 835 (same as Samsung S8, HTC u11 and oneplus 5) and 4 - 6gb of ram depending on the model you choose. Sadly the 6gb version only comes in one color for now. Even though the battery is only 3090mAh, it does come with QuickCharge 3.0 and with USB-C port. Additionally, it is still a Quad HD display so you won't be losing out on the resolution too!
  3. A photographer wouldn't be disappointed too as it got 3 x 13MP cameras. Powerful enough for the photographer to take an outstanding photo with it. However, please take note that it is only F/2.0 which means that the low light photo may or may not be that outstanding. However,  Nokia tried to salvage it by using the 2nd camera to take a monochrome picture, some said that it will process the picture using both lenses to create a good low-light photo.
  4. This phone uses a water cooling system, with a large copper heat pipe running through the internals and a graphite heat shield. In layman term, this phone should get too hot even when you are playing intensing game. This type of cooling system is not available in other phones hence I would call it a way to make it more outstanding. 

Needless to say, there are some cons to the phone.

  1. Even though it is a Quad HD display, it will still not be as pretty as Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ display. Since it does not sport a bezel-less display.
  2. Not waterproof (IP 68). This phone only gets an IP57 rating, means is splashsproof but not waterproof. So if I were you, I would not bring this phone into the shower room.
  3. If you were to compare to oneplus 5, obviously this is going to be expensive. BUT if you were to compare it with other top flagship devices, hey it is actually quite reasonable. 
Conclusion

It should cost roughly SGD$812. Which is slightly expensive than the oneplus 5. However you are getting a device that is not in the mainstream categories but still consist all of the wonderful features that a consumer would want.
