Nintendo Switch Review - Truly innovative console

I am very sure that all my friends are aware that I am a Nintendo fan. Basically, I will only spend money on Nintendo's Consoles only. From my first Gameboy all the way to New Nintendo 3DS XL.
Hence, I would say that this review will be slightly biased since I loved the brand so much.

Honestly, I am not a home console kind of person as I do not stay home that often. Luckily, Nintendo Switch is very portable, I literally bring it along everywhere I go. I truly love those games that Nintendo offers such as Zelda, Pokemon, Mario and much more as compared to Sony or Xbox.

Firstly, I would start off with how my Wifey purchase the Switch. (if you are not interested, please scroll to the review section)

  1. Shopback - This is the place where you can earn "rebates". Once you hit a certain amount of threshold, you will be able to withdraw the money.

(IF you are interested, Click here to sign up > Shopback)
  2. Liveup - This is a new subscription service that cost $28.80/year and provides you with rebates when purchasing stuff from Lazada or Redmart. (There are many more "benefits" for Uber and Netflix)

Nintendo Switch Package (Bomberman + Mariokart and 3Amiibo ) at $699. Furthermore, we bought additional Zelda game at only $30+. In total, we spend about $729.

Includes

  • Nintendo Switch Console
  • Nintendo Switch Dock
  • Joy-Con (L and R)
  • Joy-Con Grip
  • Nintendo Switch AC Adapter
  • HDMI Cable
  • Joy-Con Straps
  • 3x Amiibos
  • Bomberman
  • Mario Kart
  • Zelda: BOTW
Mind you that if you purchase it from Qishan or other Singapore game store, it will cost the same for the packages and for the additional game at $83.90. Using shopback + liveup itself helped me save about $40++

Hence, please be smart by purchasing using such services to help you save money for more games in the future.

Reviews

It will be covered in 4 aspects. The Design, The Durability, The Performances and The Battery Life.

1) The Design

Without a doubt, Nintendo Switch is very well designed. From the loud neon red and blue color combination and the very clear Nintendo Switch logo.

Below the switch consist of USB-C port for charging or docking it to play on the big screen. As for the red joy-con have NFC and Infrared Sensor for gaming and amiibo purposes.

As for the top of the switch consist of the game card slot, power & volume button, and the air vent too.

As for the back, it has a kickstand and the microSD card slot hidden underneath. It is able to support up to 128GB

As for the joy-con itself, the buttons are well thought out as you can share it with your friends to play together. However, you do need to use the joy-con wrist extension to play comfortably. As they are hard to press without it.

Overall for the design, I would give it a solid 9/10.

2) The durability

Please do paste a glass protector over the screen as soon as possible as there are numbers of cases that mentioned of the screen getting scratched very easily.

I did get myself the whole set of silicon cover and hard casing from Lazada so that I can protect the console from dust, scratches, and oil. Apart from that, you can carry additional stuff too. (such as games and other accessories)

However, as I often take the joy con out from the console to play Mario Kart with my wife, I did notice some scratches on the joy-con sliding area. Ouch.

The joy-con is made out some sort of plastic which make it feel cheap and not so durable. For the price, I would hope that they use a better material for the Joy-con or price it slightly lower so that people can replace it easily. (It cost about $110 alone for the joy-con).

Speaking of taking out that joy-con and putting back in is very easily. I have taken in and out for countless time and it still works pretty well. Hopefully it stays that way.

Durability Score 7/10.

The Performances

The screen is a Multi Touch 6.2in Display with a 1280 x 720p resolution. Hence if you are playing it out of the dock, your games will be running in 720p.

The CPU/GPU for the Switch is Nvidia Custom Tegra Processor which make it capable of playing high-quality game and without any slow down being noticed.

Legend of the Zelda, Mario Kart and BomberMan gameplay was super crisp and smooth, no hiccup noticed during gameplay. The interface for the Switch is intuitive, however, i really wish that there are apps available for us to download so that we can make it like a tablet when not playing any games.

The Performance Score 10/10.

4) The Battery Life

Nintendo mentioned that if you are playing Legend of the Zelda, you can get up to 3hours of gameplay, which is kinda true to me. It is not super strong, but hey you can charge it up easily as they are using usb-c! Please do take not that you need a good cable and good portable battery to be able to charge it up.

The thing that I am very impressed is the standby time due to my Nintendo switch is always in the sleep mode. I can leave it alone for 2-3 days and only noticed about 10% battery life dropped.

The Battery Life scores 8/10! As Nintendo 3ds is roughly about that kind of timing too.

Conclusion

If you are a fan of Nintendo, this is a console that you wouldn't want to miss it.
If you are not a fan, please give it a try first and trust me, you will love it.

For its portability and performance in gaming itself, it is already a remarkable machine.
With the ability to share the joy-con to play games together anywhere you go, what are you waiting for?

Yes, i am aware that the game library is not that strong as for now, but trust me as more games have been announced during the past week of E3.

Recommendation = BUY!
if you are a gamer. You will love it a lot.

The possible reason for the 2DS XL announcement by Nintendo

Sorry for the late news, but I caught the very exciting news a few days ago that Nintendo had announced their newest addition to the 2DS family, the new 2DS XL!

Why is this an exciting news? The console now will be able to play new Nintendo 3ds exclusive game as it is equipped with the c stick and ZL/ZR button. Furthermore, the design looks so beautiful too.

As for the price, it is cheaper by 50 USD?

Honestly, I did not use the 3D function very often too. Hence if I do not have a new 3DS XL, I would definitely get it. Since you are paying for a reasonable price and still getting a whole load of games library that Nintendo 3DS had.

However, lets touched on the main reason of this article, is why? Why would Nintendo still release a system that is already few years old?

  1. Nintendo Switch is clearly not the replacement of the 3DS product line, hence the game libraries are still going on very strong.
  2. Nintendo has no strong competitors in portable console gaming yet. Yes, I know that they are mobile games, however, not everyone will spend $50-$80 on a game in the mobile store. (psychological I guess)
  3. Additionally, if they are without any other competitors, which mean they might prolong the 3DS product line with more games. Why fix when it ain't broken right?
  4. It might mean that Nintendo Switch games may be able to play on the Nintendo 2DS/3DS product too.

Yup. These might be the possible reasons that explained why they will release the new Nintendo 2DS XL. Nevertheless, it is truly an attractive design with an affordable price tag.

It will be coming in 2 Colors at launch but please note that not all country will get the orange white version.

Look at the Dragon Quest edition. The slime represented my drool. (GROSS) haha.

So what do you about the console? let me know via email or down in the comment section below!

Nintendo Switch - Would i buy?

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog.
As usual, i have not been updating my blog for so long... my apologies.

NINTENDO SWITCH

What is Nintendo Switch?

It is the successor of Wii-U. (Not Nintendo 3ds).
It was supposed to be a home console but with a twist. They included a portability feature... (switch)

What is inside the Nintendo Switch?

  1. Nintendo Switch Console
  2. Nintendo Switch Dock
  3. Joy Con (Grey and Neon Color)
  4. AC adapter (USB-C)
  5. HDMI Cable
  6. Joy-Con Grips

Nintendo Switch Features Summarize

1) Plug it and become a home system.
You can plug your Switch into the dock which is connected to your TV in order to play the full resolution and at the maximum performance (1080P).

2) Plug out to become a portable devices
If you are going out, you can actually take it out and continue to play on the go at 720p resolution. (MAIN FEATURE)

3) Play with a friend easily
If you are playing a game that only required 1 Joy Con, you can actually share it and play with your family and friends.

4) Amiibo and Infrared for games
On the right joy con, you can actually use amiibo to help you in the game since it contains NFC. It is also equipped with infrared sensor which will be needed in some games.

5) USB-C
Why is this a feature? It means that you can charge your Switch with your portable battery! Do note that you need to use a high end USB-C cable, not those cheap low end quality cable.

6) Online services
Say bye to the friend-code system that Nintendo adopted for their past console. They will be including a lobby for the online mode so that you can join any game easily without asking them "WHAT IS YOUR FRIENDCODE?"
(It will be a paid service like XBox and PS4 in the near feature)

I love the system, but i am not getting it this early...
1) The price is quite high for now... In Singapore, it cost up to $669, bundle with Zelda Breath of the wild and 1-2 switch.

2) Not a lot of game is out yet. Yes, i know that Zelda is a very good game, but i do not want to complete that game and put it aside after that.

3) NO TIME - Personal reason.
I do not have the motivation to complete a game anymore... Like my Pokemon Sun, i have not completed it yet.

Conclusion

If you have extra cash to spend and lots of time to play games.PLEASE GET IT.

It is a very special product that Nintendo created. Even though there are not a lot of games yet, but the line up of the games seems super cool.
Such as Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem and maybe Pokemon game?

Let me know down in the comment below if you own one?
Give me your feedback pls!

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Passed Away At 55.

Shocking... Very shocking and sad news this morning.

Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata passed away at age 55.

I bet you guys know that i am a hug fan of Nintendo, one of the reason was due to him.
He was a risk taker, as he love to be different in whatever he do. This was the reason why Nintendo Dual Screen(DS) was being created.

He always target the niche market, where no one dare to target. Even though the sales wasn't that good, but it slowly picked up. He once said that he do not want to target what other companies are targeting (like Sony and Microsoft), he want to create something that consumer would want to own even they have them.

Thank you Satoru Iwata, for setting the path of the Nintendo. I believe your next idea of console will be a hit.

Rest in peace...

There are no news about who will be the next president, i believe they will be announcing this week. Be sure to check back here if you interested in it.

Nintendo E3 - Upcoming Games for Nintendo 3DS (2)

Another 3 games that are coming up for Nintendo 3DS!

1. Hyrule Warrior Legends

Look at the dope game art, it make me so excited for this game just by looking at the trailer! I always love to play dynastic warrior in the past via PSP. Right now they make a similar game but with the character that i grew up with. (Zelda and the rest !!!) How awesome is that? The gameplay look super sleek and smooth too. This game has been release on the Wii U already, who knows that Nintendo 3DS is capable of handling the graphic. This is a must play game if you love hack and slash game like me! Basically there are quite a number of character for you to choose from, and each of the character have their own special skill which add game experience even better.

Watch the trailer !! WATCH IT! :

2. Fire Emblem - Fates.

The origins of Fire Emblem games will be a war genre. The stories of Fire Emblem series are always based on a country being takeover by one bad guy and you have to slowly build back your armies to fight back. The key thing to take note is, you only play as one country but right now you are able to choose whether you to play the white version, or the dark one.

I am not a hardcore gamer, i only completed the game when i played it on Gameboy advance. I couldn't complete the 3DS version - Fire Emblem Awakening. That is just me, as i not really a fan off turn based strategy games which i will always find the game-play very slow. Nevertheless, i always love the story-line of these type of games as they would have a very good storytelling part, which bring the character closer to the user. I would recommend it if you love a good strategy game and the long hour game-play.

Watch the trailer down below.

3. Bravery Second - End Layer.

This game has always been compared to Final Fantasy as this is a game about four heroes saving the world, and you won't go a minute without being bludgeoned by references to Square's bigger series. If you don't get the hint from the Phoenix Downs and Firagas, two significant characters are actually named Edea and Steiner. I can't say much about this game because i didn't play it, but i guess i am going start with Bravely Default first. It is a turn based game, similar to Final Fantasy, but with the feature called "Default". Where you can choose to attack in advance or protect yourself. It make the games more challenging.

The genre of this game is JRPG, which they focus more on story rather than game-play. There are tons of classes to choose to form your team, hence you will certainly love this game if you like to play the old Final Fantasy games.

Thats all for part 2. There will be part 3, will be the last!

Please leave a comment down below for any feedback! Thanks!

Nintendo E3 2015 - Upcoming Games for Nintendo 3DS (1)

When i look at all the news for Nintendo E3 announcement, those games that are coming to Nintendo 3DS are something that people won't really expect it to be here. I am going to list some games that are coming to this particular system. There will be many parts to this post, since i am going to list 3 games per post.

Lets GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

1. The Legend of Zelda - TriForce Heroes

The Legend of Zelda aka TLOZ, has always been my favorite puzzle hack and slash game.  The game evolve drastically in terms of graphics and the game-play experiences. The recent release of Zelda Majora's mask was considered a hit remake in the series. I was quite surprised when they announced Tri-Force Heroes.
Usually Zelda games are for single player, where you play as link to collect fragments of stuff and try to save the world. However, Tri-Force heroes have 3 main hero. If you are playing alone, you will have to switch between 3 character to clear the dungeon puzzle. If you are in CO-OP mode, you and your friends will have to work together to fight boss and clearing puzzle. ( BONDING TIME WITH MY FRIENDS ). Unlike Monster Hunter, the enjoyment for this game is clearing puzzles in the dungeon and showing the Boss who is the BOSS! ( Their tagline ). This remake also added new feature such as "Power attire", where you will have different attire to wear and each of them have their own skills enhance.

Watch the game trailer down below!

2. Metroid Prime: Federation Force

I am not a Metroid's fan, in fact i never really play Metroid series. (If i did i can't remember). At first glance for me, it like another CO-OP game, that instead of you using sword to fight monster, you use GUNS! Pretty concept right? The video of the game looks bad actually... Due to the "Bad graphic" and rigid gameplay. You can only slide, or shoot the boss. I believed that the weapons will be able to customize, but i don't think this is enough to attract people to buy and play the game.
FYI: lots of people are complaining about the Metroid's look in the game, like some block game. (Bad choice Nintendo)

Watch the trailer down below:

3. Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

Animal crossing is a simulation genre game and for this series, you take on the role of a home designer! I never been a fan of Animal Crossing, i am more towards Harvest Moon kind of game. Honestly i think girls will love this game more. From the trailer, i can see that you move to the city and start your work as a home designer. Basically your life is just all about designing people house. There are some "Card" for you to use if you are playing on the New Nintendo 3DS due to the NFC function. The card feature enable you to add them into your town... forever alone. hahaha.
